Ten weeks

WeighWhere did ten weeks skip past so fast. Here I am back at the clinic for some more of those nasty jabs. This time my big sister Roxanne did the holding so Dad could look the other way when those needles went in. I gave my usual scream and then like last time calmed down pretty quickly. I managed to hit the 4.7kg mark on the clinic scale and Dad is thinking of signing me up for weight watchers as I am rapidly making up for lost time. I also paid my first visit to Dr Steve who gave me the twice over. He liked the sound of my heart and said I was cute and appeared to be advanced for my tender age. What can I say , I must have good genes. Dad is working on a video of me where I punch away at my activity centre. Coming to a screen near you soon.

Not Forgotten

Today Dad was at an event where they suddenly started talking about Mom. Seems like her influence in this town continues.

My very first Outing

uShaka

If it’s Durban and one has visitors from over the seas then I guess first stop is uShaka Marine World. I had hardly got my sun bonnet on when I was accosted by this strange furry creature who tried to kiss me with his ridiculous beak thingie. I was not too impressed but kept calm and didn’t cry once. We then took in the dolphin show and all the various types of fishes big and small. By the time I got home I was ready for my bottle and a bath. All in all a successful  first outing at the tender age of seven weeks.

Chow Time

Media House
This is the building where my mom used to work. She was one of the original staff members who helped build up the newspaper to what it is today. Dad went to visit there (left me with Roxanne) last week to sort out some paperwork. What he didn’t expect was the very generous offer of the company to supply me with a years worth of formula. Of course what goes in must come out and they have added a years supply of nappies to the deal. Ain’t that neat! On behalf of Mom many thanks to Ansoinette, Lorna, Valene and all the staff at Express Media. I will visit soon to show off my newly expanded girth thanks to them. (oh yes and I’ll bring a spare nappy or two just in case)

Ouch Eina

Six weeks means the first inoculations on that special card I have. Dad and sis Kayleigh took a chance and presented themselves (and me) at the local state clinic in Westville. When they handed Dad waiting ticket No 82 he thought “here we go” but we were soon ushered past all the sick people to the new baby section where they were only two of us. After a short wait a nurse gave me the once over before squirting some stuff in my mouth. I hit the 4 kg mark on the scale and then it was time for the real reason of our visit. Squeamish Dad had to hold my legs and arms while the same kind nurse turned into the Gestapo. Not one but four needles were stuck in my legs. As the first one went in the pain was so horrific that I lost my breath trying to scream. After a few seconds I let rip and by then the next three needles were poking into my tender little thighs. Thanks goodness I will have no conscious memory of this in years to come. As soon as he could Dad gathered me up and held me close and I settled down. In four weeks we return for more of the same. Bummer.

Smoke and Mirrors

Today the powers that be decided that I was to be baptised. They dressed me in a cute white baptisim dress that was bought by granny Elaine's niece. There was a long service in St Pauls Church before Dad carried me to the font and Rev Alvin Sigamoney (another relative) poured some holy water over my forehead. All this is on video as I cannot vouch for any of it. I simply slept through the whole episode. I would however like to thank all those that attended. Oh yes I also gained another three “godmothers. viz Marcelle Robbins (Dads sister) Lorna Charles (Moms best friend) and Natalie Sigamoney whose hubbie  Martin is really not too shabby on the ivories and played the church pipe organ for me. Oh yes nearly left out the "godfather" who of course is my Uncle... Mark Sigamoney.

Papoose

PapooseKangaroos know a thing or two about closeness and stuff. I love manipulating my Dad to carry me around on his morning shift in this papoose. Within minutes of him hooking me up, so to speak, I drift off. He even manages to do boring housework stuff like vacuuming etc. Just when he thinks it is safe to put me back in my crib I let rip with some wails and its back into the papoose again. I just love the morning shift. Now when are we going to hit that new beachfront on the bicycle?
